A better night out.

Small tables. Smart prompts. Real conversation.
And a room full of people who actually want to talk.

In Real Life.

What We Do

New Haven IRL hosts small-group conversation nights for adults who want a night out that feels more interesting than the usual bar scene.

Three or four people per table. An interesting prompt that actually gets everyone talking. A chance to meet new people who want to meet you.

Everything is built to help conversations find depth without any pressure.

A group of people sitting at tables in a dimly lit restaurant or bar, engaging in conversation. The focal person is a woman with blonde hair in a bun, wearing a black jacket with red accents, smiling.
A group of friends socializing at a bar or restaurant with warm lighting and a brick wall in the background. The woman in the center is smiling, with drinks and a candle on the table.

How It Works

Come alone or with a friend
Most people actually come on their own, and we make it comfortable and safe.

Settle in
You take a seat with a few new people. It’s relaxed and easy to start talking. You’ll never be one-on-one.

Follow the lead
Each table gets one prompt. It’s thought-provoking, and brings on great conversation immediately.

Mix it up
You move around through the night. By the end, you’ve talked with a whole room of interesting people.

Why It Works

Better conversation happens when everyone shows up with the same intention.

People come ready to talk and open to meeting someone new. They’ve set aside the time for it, which makes everything feel easier.

Small groups take the pressure off, so even quieter people can join in without feeling overwhelmed.

The prompt gives you something real to start with, and before long people are sharing stories they rarely get the chance to tell anywhere else.

What People Are Saying

  • “I almost didn’t come. But I’m so glad I did.”

  • “The questions were hard - but good hard. I ended up telling stories I never get to tell.”

  • “It was the night out I didn’t know I needed.”
